Solution:- Given that, work done by gravity is negative.

We know that, $W=F . S \cos \theta$

when $\theta=180^{\circ}, W=-F . S$

Put $F=m g, \quad S=h$

$w=-m g_{x} h$ (work done by gravity)

$\checkmark$ Potential energy $=-w$

Therefore, $P . E .(U)=-w=m g h-(1)$

From eqn (1) we can conclude, on increasing height from the surface, Potential Energy will definitely increase. Hence, option $(A)$ is correct.
